The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated more than 230 square miles of territory around the ancient city of Palmyra since March, the Russian Ministry of Defense declared on Tuesday evening.
The Russian Ministry of Defense released the report just hours after the Syrian Arab Army liberated Al-Abtar mountains in Palmyra’s southern countryside.
The Syrian Arab Army is now pushing south towards the strategic town of Khunayfis and its nearby phosphate mines, which have been under the control of the Daesh organization for two years now.
Should the Syrian Arab Army liberate Khunayfis, they will have successfully controlled the southeastern border of the Homs Governorate and the ancient Assyrian city of Quraytayn.
