Syria, China discuss prospects of joint cooperation

Finance Minister Maamoun Hamdan discussed with a delegation of the Chinese-Arab Association, headed by Chen Yong, prospects of joint cooperation and China’s participation in the process of reconstruction in Syria.
Minister Hamdan, who is heading the Syrian side to the Syrian-Chinese Joint Committee, welcomed the Chinese companies which wish to invest in Syria, indicating to the several laws and legislations that were issued by the government to encourage and attract investments in Syria, particularly those related to exempting raw materials and industrial machinery from fees.
He added that the Syrian economy provides plenty of investment opportunities in different fields such as industry, agriculture and trade, which enhances the possibility to establish joint cooperation projects between the two sides.
On the other hand, head of the Chinese delegation stated that he will convey the real image of the situation in Syria, adding that Chinese companies are looking forward to invest in Syria and take part in the next edition of Damascus International Fair.
