12 Villages Near Mosul Liberate by Iraqi Forces in Offensive Against Daesh

Local media reported, citing Iraqi Defense Ministry that The Iraqi-backed People’s Mobilization Forces (PMF) have liberated 12 villages near the Iraqi city of Mosul in an offensive operation against Daesh terrorist group, backed by Saudi,.

The  Defense Ministry of Iraq said that the  PMF have liberated the villages in a cooperation  with the Iraqi Army Aviation on Tuesday, in the al-Hadher district, southern Mosul,.

The Iraqi forces have liberated Al-Thawra district of western Mosul from Daesh ,backed by Saudi,  on April 20 ,stated  Iraqi Army’s Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Yaarallah.

The Daesh group, backed by Saudi, took over Mosul in June 2014, and the operation aimed at liberating the city from the terrorists started in October 2016. Iraqi forces in late January liberated the eastern part of the city , and in February, Iraqi forces began their operation to liberate the western Mosul from Daesh, backed by Saudi.

Brig. Gen. Shaker Alwan Khafaji, one of the Iraqi Federal Police heads said that that only 25-30 percent of western Mosul’s territory was under the terrorists’ control, and that Iraqi government forces are continuing in their efforts to liberate the city’s districts.
