In a precedent that is the first of its kind on the European level, and as an evidence that the Saudi regime’s link is a “disgrace” in the international relations, the Belgian news agency said last Tuesday that Belgian Foreign Minister ,Didier Renders, attended the Belgian parliament and apologized to members of parliament due to the vote of the delegate of their country in favor of Saudi Arabia to become a member of the UN Commission on the Rights of Women.
According to the agency, the apology came after the members of the Federal House of Representatives expressed their shocks about the vote of their country in favor of Saudi Arabia in the Commission of Human Rights despite its bad reputation in human rights and women in Saudi Arabia.
The Belgian Foreign Minister also supported the arms embargo to Saudi Arabia, aiming at Belgium should be a model for other European countries. He also revealed that the federal authority will not support the Belgian regional authorities to develop their cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
