US President Donald Trump on Wednesday met his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas at the White House in their first meeting to try to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
Two and a half months after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit, Trump personally greeted Abbas as he got out of the car.
“I hope something wonderful will happen between the Palestinians and Israel,” Trump said at the start of their meeting at the Oval Office.
The two presidents will not hold a press conference at the end of their meeting but will issue a joint statement.
