The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) waged an important operation on Sunday to cease the progress of the Jordanian-backed rebel forces in the Damascus countryside.
Led by their 5th Legion, the Syrian Arab Army repelled the powerful assault from their positions at the Al-Seen Airbase in east Damascus, striking the Jordanian-backed rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Biyar Al-Saba region.
The Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion were capable of capturing the entire Biyar Al-Saba area, forcing the Jordanian-backed rebels to withdraw to the desert region of the province, according to a military source in Damascus.
Today’s operation was launched as a preventive attack to prohibit any possible intervention from U.S. and Jordanian troops in the Damascus countryside, a military source reported today.
