The Commission of the Preservation for the Historic Cities Calls on UNESCO to Aave Socotra from the UAE Tampering

The General Commission for the Conservation of Historic Cities called on UNESCO to save and protect Socotra Archipelago from the continuous droughts which it has been subjected to since the arrival of the UAE occupying forces to the registered archipelago as a natural reserve on the list of the world’s vital marine sites in 2008.
The organization noted in a protest note for UNESCO that since the arrival of the UAE forces to Socotra, whose coasts and marine wealth are subjected to continuous dredging and smuggling of birds and rare plants, which are among the richest plants in the world.
It explained that what the forces of the United Arab Emirates tampering with the territory of the archipelago through the construction does not take into consideration the privacy of the island and its potential investment, by which is characterized, so this issue threatens the imbalance in the outstanding vital area which the island has been maintained for millions of years.
The Commission also called upon UNESCO to fulfill its responsibilities under the laws, regulations and executive mechanisms of the Organization to protect this world heritage from loss.
