Thousands of Yemenis demonstrated on Saturday in Capital to refuse U.S terrorism towards Yemen and to coincide with Trump’s arrival to the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The masses gathered under the slogan “No to U.S. terrorism”, reprimanding the United States for the Saudi crimes against Yemeni civilians in Al-Sabeen Square, capital city of Sana’a.
The U.S. has been a major supporter of the Saudi war against the impoverished state, whereas the war was first declared on March 26, 2015, from Washington DC.
The Obama as well as Trump administrations have sold weapon deals to the Saudi regimes worth billions, implying that Trump’s recent visit had to do with more assistance for the Saudis.
Regardless of Trump’s well known comments against Islam as well as his recent ban on Muslims entering the country, the first country he visited as a president happened to be Saudi Arabia, adding to the irony, Saudi King Salman granted Trump a gold medal as it has been done with Obama and Bush.
Speaking of weapon deals, Trump just made the biggest one in history; worth $350 billion, despite all the international humanitarian pressures on ceasing the three-long war that has resulted in 11,000 killed and wounded civilians, while 7 million are threatened by famine.
During the massive demonstration that began with the Yemeni anthem, Yemenis chanted anti-American slogans and speeches were given on the occasion of the Trump visitation.
A speaker named Fouad Naji spoke to Saudi Arabia and Muslim scholars quoting, “What you are doing is hypocrisy, don’t you know who America is? Isn’t it the one who destroyed Iraq? Isn’t it the one behind Palestinian oppression? Isn’t it the one behind the aggression on Yemen? Isn’t it the one responsible for killing and displacing Muslims in Syria, Libya and Afghanistan?”
Protesters also mocked an argumentative statement by Donald Trump in which he described Saudi Arabia as a “milk cow”, referring to the Gulf Kingdom’s oil reserves. In line with characteristic Yemeni humor, some Yemeni peasants offered their cow to embody the statement at Sabeen Square, dressed as a Saudi ready to be milked.
In a way to respond to Trump’s continuous arms deals to Saudis, Yemenis announced the targeting of the Saudi capital using a long-range missile called “Burkan 2”, referring to “Volcano 2” in Arabic.
According to Saudi forces, the missile hit southern Riyadh, particularly a desert region, and has been intercepted.
On the other hand, Yemeni military analysts confirm Burkan 2 missile successfully hit Riyadh as the capital Sana’a witnessed bombardment by Saudi jets right after the unexpected missile.
