The Ansarullah aka Houthis spokesman, Mohamed Abdel Salam, stressed on Monday the importance of peace and expressed his regret over the failure of the United Nations to fulfill its commitments.

Abdel Salam expressed on his Facebook post that “the continuous meetings with the UN have become a bit absurd as it remains incapable of imposing affect and fulfilling its humanitarian and moral promises.”

“The UN must take a clear position and hold the Saudi-led aggression responsible toward what had and is still being done against the Yemeni people”, he added.

Moreover, he stressed on a peaceful and a comprehensive solution, affirming that this is the “permanent choice of the Yemeni people.”

“Our long experience with the United Nations has proven that it is not able of doing anything but moving when asked by the Saudi-led coalition due to international pressures, attempting to persuade the world that a political negotiation is taking place,” he said.

In addition, Mohamed Abdel Salam confirmed that “whenever we respond to a map or a project schemed by the United Nations, the forces of Saudi aggression retreat from fulfilling any obligation, and the United Nations is silent and does not move a finger, but instead is waiting for a new round or a military path that may force the Yemeni people to raise the banner of surrender.

He concluded with final points stating that the UN failed to reopen Sana’a International Airport thus the wounded are stranded abroad for over a year, lift the imposed air, sea and land blockade as well as pay the salaries of state employees as pledged after the transfer of the Central Bank to Saudi-controlled Aden city. He also charged the UN for “providing coverage of committed crimes against numerous Yemeni civilians.”
