Yemeni students in Hamtramck, Michigan held an art exhibit to express their feelings about the US-Saudi war against Yemen.

According to the Geopolitics Alert, the exhibit took place in Hamtramck, Michigan last week called The Wall Speaks – Voices of the Unheard. The aim of the exhibit was to give a voice to the forgotten victims of various wars– and it doesn’t get much more forgotten than Yemen.

A number of students wrote messages of solidarity on bricks, which became part of “the wall.” Others drew pictures of homes, mosques and hospitals bombarded by US-Saudi airstrikes. One student drew Yemeni soldiers marching into battle.

Another student (who has only lived in the United States for about 9 months) constructed a before and after depiction of the Yemeni city of Ibb– which has been demolished by Saudi airstrikes.

Hamtramck is a town traditionally inhabited by immigrants looking to get on their feet after moving to the United States. Previously the city boasted a large Polish population but as war wages on in the Middle East, many Arabs have filled the city bringing with them with flourishing businesses, services, and culture. Many of these Arab immigrants in Hamtramck hold the Yemeni identity.
