Russian, Syrian air forces pound Eastern Hama in preparation for upcoming offensive

In the past 24 hours, more than twenty air raids by the Russian Airspace Forces (RuAF) and Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) aimed at Daesh stronghold of ‘Uqayrbat in the eastern countryside of the Hama governorate.

The relentless airstrikes come as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is getting ready to launch a large-scale offensive in the region to wipe Daesh from eastern Hama.

A few days ago, a local source reported the SAA’s 4th Mechanized Division and the 5th Corps, along with Russian Marines, were on their way to eastern Hama.

Currently, ‘Uqayrbat is the major Daesh stronghold remaining in the Hama governorate.

According to local sources, the SAA offensive on ‘Uqayrbat could begin within days.
