Syrian Army frees 35+ people held hostage by rebels in east Damascus

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated more than 35 people that were imprisoned by the rebel forces inside the Barzeh District of east Damascus, Tuesday, the High Command reported.
The Syrian Arab Army was capable of securing the release of these rebel hostages after the latter abandoned their positions inside Barzeh.
Many of the captivated people were Syrian Arab Army soldiers and local civilians that were taken hostage by the rebel forces these past five years.
As of May 29th, all of Barzeh is under the control of the Syrian government, marking the first time since 2011 that this district has been free of rebels.
