The Yemeni governor of the province of Hodeidah, Major General Hassan Ahmed Al-Heij, along with the governorate’s deputies and a group of judges, launched on Thursday the distribution of food baskets for the needy.

The project aims to distribute 80,000 food baskets to poor families in three districts of the coastal city of Hodeidah.

During the inauguration, the Governor praised the efforts of the volunteers and the commercial organization who provided the baskets to ease the suffering of the vulnerable during the holy month of Ramadan.

He also urged businessmen to take similar steps that benefit the citizens and promote social cohesion during the hardships of war.

Hodeidah faces an intense case of famine, where countless people struggle with malnutrition as the imposed US-backed Saudi blockade continues to be implemented on the whole country.
