The Israeli Forces Use Thousands of Cameras in the West Bank and Jerusalem

During the year, the Israeli army began to implement the surveillance cameras in the West Bank and to set up them on the roads and main junctions adjacent to the settlements in order to monitor the Palestinian movements all the time.
The Israeli newspaper ” Haaretz”  reported ,Monday,  that the army has deployed more than 1,700 obvious and hidden cameras in various areas of the West Bank to be used as early warning systems of operations.

The cameras are obvious and hidden to collect information all the time and send them to the special operations rooms of the army for analysis.
In the view of the project’s workers,  the goal of the cameras is dual, on one hand it will be a deterrent to the perpetrators of the operations to be  away from the places of overcrowding army and settlers, and on the other hand it will contribute to be  as  identification of perpetrators of the operations

The army and Shabak, through these cameras and other technological means,  were able to arrest  2200 Palestinians in less than a year, whom were transferred to administrative detention, while the PA summoned about 400 to warn and deter them of carrying out operations, according to the report.
