“Daesh” Explodes Mosul Mosque where Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Announced the Caliphate

On Wednesday evening, the Al-Nouri mosque in the Old City of Mosul was exploded  by explosives placed by “Daesh” elements , backed by Saudi Arabia , an Iraqi military source said .

The disreputable mosque was reduced to rubbles after the Iraqi Army’s Counter Terrorism Units advanced within 50 meters of the disreputable holy site.

Back in 2014, “Daesh” leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi gave his very first speech in the Al-Nouri mosque, declaring the establishment of a regional caliphate across the Levant.

According to Amaq Agency ,however, the Al-Nouri mosque was exploded by a US airstrike, which was denied by both Baghdad and Washington earlier.

Iraqi froces have been within a few hundred meters of the Al-Nouri mosque for several months, but seasoned “Daesh” militants have held their ground in the southern sector of the Old City neighborhood for some time.

The last district represents the latter neighborhood under “Daesh” control after the Iraqi Armed Forces fully freed the Al-Shafaa suburb yesterday.
