Short Study Of US Crimes across World
American felonies intensified after the second World War in an effort to prove itself as the superpower of the modern world. The felonies have a large range from financial, cultural, and societal crimes to military and war ones. Here, and in the first part, the first half of Twentieth century will be put under focus.
April 1916
The American Navy infantry oppressed the Dominique uprising in Caribbean Sea and occupied the country for 8 whole years.
December 1943
Early in December of 1943, the German navy drowned (S/S John Harvey), the American carrier. It was revealed, then, that the carrier contained 150 tons of Sulfur Mustard which was transmitted after the drowning of the ship killing 75 sailors and 45 tons of fishes and aquatics at the zone.
May 1945
The American air force bombed the German city of Dresden in spite of the advancements of Russians into the city. Besides, there was no military base in Dresden. 150 civilians were killed in the attack and 60 percent of the city turned to ashes.
August 1945
On August 6, 1945, Harry Truman, then the US President, commanded nuclear attacks against Japanese city of Hiroshima leading to the death of 78,150 people on the spot. Besides, hundreds of thousands of citizens and their next generations were inflicted massive sufferings and mental retardations.
August 1945
On August 9, 1945, Harry Truman issued another command to nuclear attack Nagasaki, another Japanese city. 73,884 civilians were killed in the city and more than 60,000 of the citizens were injured. The whole alive creatures of the zone like plants and animals extinguished totally.
December 1945
On December 28, 1945, Harry Truman agreed to deploy an air base for American forces in Saudi city of Dhahran. This was considered the first military presence of American forces in Al-Arab peninsula or Saudi Arabia.
1946
In 1946, the Americans accessed 250 tons of Tabun Nerve Agent in Austria which were secretly carried to the US instead of extinction.
1949
In 1949, the US instigated the civil war in Greece which led to the death of 154,000 people and detention and jailing of 40,000 more. Besides, 6,000 Greek civilians were executed by military courts. The ambassador of the US in Athens at that time confessed about the role of America in the following years.
March 1949
On March 3, 1949, the US central Intelligence Agency plotted a military coup in Syria commanded by “Hassani Al-Zaeem”. The whole plan of the coup was made in the US embassy in Damascus.
August 1949
On August 14, 1949, a number of Syrian officers, ordered and headed by the US embassy, besieged the house of Hassani Al-Zaeem who had headed the coup. Having not surrendered, Al-Zaeem was killed by the Syrian officers.
