Cholera Toll Reaches 1416 , We Need more Treatment Centers : Ministry of Health

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health and Population for the therapeutic medicine Dr. Nasser Al-Arjali, the increase in deaths from cholera to 1614 cases, while the cases of suspicion exceeded 270 thousand cases.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health said, The process of opening new centers for treatment the acute diarrhea are slowly and are not appropriate with the high rise of cases of suspected injuries and deaths, noting the necessary numbers of treatment centers have not opened.

He pointed out that there are many problems in the response process in facing the epidemic, including acute shortage of the necessary liquids in treatment centers , the absence of supervision on its performance and the lack of medicines sufficient in the stores of the ministry as well the lack of implementation of awareness campaigns at the level of directorates that suffers of high average of infected cases.

He added that one of the difficulties facing the response process is the absence of a clear map for the places of intervention by the organizations throughout the Republic and the type of interventions and activities they provide, as well as the absence of a study of the source of the disease , ways of transmission it and the explanation of the cause of high rates of infection and death in some regions.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health stressed the need for full coordination between all the different sectors and sectors related to the spread of the epidemic and benefit from the academic scientific committee concerned in planning some procedures such as introduction of the vaccine or any other procedure.
