Media affiliated with the Yemeni ex-president, Hadi, promised to kidnap foreign journalists using terrorist groups if they ever try to come to to Yemen.
“We call on foreign journalists not to grant legitimacy to the rebels by visiting the areas under their control, such as the capital Sana’a,” the ministry of information based in Riyadh said in a statement.
“There are other Yemeni cities that deserve media coverage and reflect the Yemeni reality with honesty and without falsification or any political agenda.” the Saudi affiliated ministry added.
“The ministry stressed on the importance of foreign journalists to keep their security and safety so that they would not be abducted by armed groups and therefore pay ransom and refinance terrorism, which is not guaranteed by the UN agencies,” the statement went on.
Just last Tuesday, the Saudi-led coalition prevented a UN aircraft transporting relief workers from arriving to Sana’a due to the presence of three international journalists on board.
Reuters quoted informed sources as saying that the flight was prevented from taking off from Djibouti to Sana’a because of the presence of three journalists from “BBC” on board.
The coalition’s forces continue to block international correspondents and journalists from entering Yemen for fear of exposing any humanitarian violations or war crimes they have been been accused of perpetrating multiple times, local source confirmed to YemenExtra.
The media coverage has been extremely limited in Yemen for two years and a half, particularly after Arabic-speaking BBC released a field film displaying terrorist organizations fighting alongside Hadi and the Saudi paid militias in a number of combat zones.
