The National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs announced on Friday the liberation of 17 fighters from the Yemeni joint military, in four exchange operations in the governorates of Lahj, Marib and al-Jawf.
According to an official source in the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, the committee, during the past week, conducted four exchanges of prisoners in several battlefronts through local mediators, in which 17 prisoners from the Yemeni joint military were finally released.
The Yemeni joint military has been confronting the forces of the Saudi-led coalition in various fronts for perpetrating war crimes against more than 30,000 Yemeni civilians, and being responsible for a massive destruction in the already-weak Yemeni infrastructure.
While some prisoners are freed, others remain in Saudi affiliated prisons lacking the right of connection with their families.
The UAE has been recently exposed to have “secret prisons” in Yemen with the participation of the U.S, a number of sources state the presence of torture in those prisons.
