Daesh has waged a counter-offensive against Syrian Army positions in east Homs just a few days after losing its major stronghold of al-Sukhnah.
The attack – which hit the government forces in and around Hamimah and the T3 Pumping Station – aims at encircling the troops stationed on this front-line and cutting off the supply route to the forces in al-Sukhnah.
The terror group initiated the assault by sending a VBIED under heavy cover fire which enabled the suicide bomber to reach the garrison of the Army.
The suicide attack took the lives of several Army troops including a senior Army officer.
Clashes are still ongoing with the government troops fighting off the attack, according to a military source.
