Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf called on the United Nations to press for the opening of Sana’a International Airport ,in addition to opening an international investigation into the destructions by the Saudi-led coalition and the closure of airports, land and sea ports since the beginning of the war against Yemen.

This came in a letter delivered to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, by UN Secretary-General envoy, Jimmy McGoldrick, who came in conjunction with the anniversary of the closure of Sana’a International Airport.

The closure of Sana’a airport was a gross infringement of the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen, the International Civil Aviation Convention (the Chicago Treaty), international humanitarian law and human rights treaties.

The letter pointed out that the case of the Saudi-led coalition and its paid fighters, are unfounded regarding Sana’a airport, which is far from the theater of military operations and United Nations reach it periodically without any delphiniums.

The message addressing the Secretary-General of the United Nations said that Sana’a International Airport is closed to turn Yemen into a large prison ,to punish the Yemeni people without justification, to deliberately increase the humanitarian suffering ,and tighten the screws on Yemeni people.

It is should mentioned that the closure of San’a’a airport sustained  citizens, students, patients and businessmen direct damage ,in addition to direct and indirect damage to the transport sector and caused all Yemeni sectors humanitarian disasters .
