Israeli Forces Demolish Homes of Alleged AL-Aqsa Attackers

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel demolished the homes of three of the Palestinians alleged of being engeged in last month’s shooting at Al-Aqsa compound in East Jerusalem, with soldiers damaging several houses in the village of Deir Abu Mashaal in the Ramallah region, Thursday.

About 50 Israeli army vehicles were reported to have entered the village of Deir Abu Mashaal, which was planted under curfew to avoid clashes with the Israeli army.

A fourth home in the Palestinian town of Silwad, belonging to the family of a man who allegedly took part in an attack on the illegal Israeli settlement of Ofra in the West Bank, was also demolished.

The Israeli army routinely demolishes the houses of relatives of those who have committed attacks on Israelis.

Civil rights group have long denounced such measures as “collective punishment”, while Israeli officials assert that it is a necessary “deterrence” measure.
