Iraq Highlights Iranian Military Role of Mentors in Fight against Terrorism

Iraqi interior minister highlighted Iranian military advisors’ role in fighting terrorism in the war-torn region.
Due to that an Iranian military advisor, known in Iran as ‘Defenders of Shrines’ was beheaded by “Daesh” , had widespread reaction in Iran, Iraq, Syria and the world.
Adressing IRNA , Qasim al-Araji said that “Tehran and Baghdad relations are strategic”, at the airport before his departure for Iran.
The Iraqi official said that he will ink a Memorandum of Understanding with his Iranian counterpart on facilitation of Arba’een Pilgrimage for the Iranian pilgrims.
Providing security of pilgrims and facilitating their religious trip are topics to be discussed, he said.
Al-Araji called exchange of information, border security and fighting terrorism as other topics of his discussion with Iranian officials during the trip.
The Iraqi interior minister is expected to have an official visit to Tehran and meet with his Iranian counterpart Abdol-Reza Rahmani Fazli and some other Iranian officials.
