Iraqi Troops Start strategic Tal Afar Attack

The spokesperson for the Popular Mobilization Units reported that the Iraqi Armed Forces have kicked off their long-awaited Tal ‘Afar attack in the northwestern countryside of the Nineveh Governorate, .

To start the attack, the Iraqi Air Force conducted several airstrikes over the Tal ‘Afar area, causing heavy damage on “Daesh” defenses, backed by Saudi Arabia.

While the PMU, Iraqi Army, and Sunni tribesmen have yet to conduct the ground attack , they are expected to attack in the coming days as the air force weakens the”Daesh” ‘s resolve.

Tal ‘Afar is a strategic area which sets up directly west of Mosul; it was one of the first places to fall to “Daesh” , backed by Saudi Arabia in 2014.
