New leaks revealed correspondence between the UAE ambassador in Washington, Yusuf al-Otaiba, and the Israeli general, Uzi Rubin, a former dean and commander of the Israeli Iron Dome system during the war in Gaza, which demonstrates the strength of the relationship between the UAE and the Israeli entity.
The leaks revealed earlier correspondence between Otaiba and Robert Satloff, executive director of the Washington Institute for Israel, in which he proposes a meeting between Otaiba and Uzi Rubin.
The correspondence included an assessment of the war damage to Gaza in 2012. The contacts came between the parties after a month of war.
Robin had visited Washington to participate in a forum and praised the success of the anti-missile iron dome system used by the occupation to intercept resistance rockets in Gaza.
Robert Satloff wrote to Otaiba: “There is a convincing presentation about the possibility of applying the Iron Dome missile system in Persian Gulf states to counter Iranian missiles. Satloff suggested that Otaiba himself should hear from Robin.
Otaiba replied that he did not meet Rubin, but was interested in hearing about the dome system and its performance during the war in Gaza.
“Let’s meet for the next time in Washington,” Roubine said. “I have already returned to Israel, maybe next time.”
