The armed forces of the Saudi-led coalition targeted a Libyan oil vessel at Bab al-Mandab Strait for the international community to blame Yemen instead. The vessel was coming from Iran, in order to gain international support for its possible escalation to target Hodeidah governorate and the western coasts, the spokesman of the Yemeni armed forces, Brigadier General Sharaf Ghaleb Luqman, said Friday.
Brigadier General Luqman also mentioned in a statement to Saba News Agency:
“The targeting of the Libyan ship is a confirmed crime which we condemn and strongly denounce, because it is the same weapon and the same method that targets and destroys the property of Yemen. However, this crime took place for the world to point fingers at Yemen.”
Moreover, he stressed that, “what is targeted are hostile warships when they enter the Yemeni territorial waters only, which are warships affiliated with the coalition and are in a state of hostility towards Yemen and its people. These warships will be immediately targeted and with pride.”
“It is nothing new regarding what the coalition is spreading of false claims to justify attacking Hodeidah governorate, but strangely it coincides with a public warning from the British government for merchant ships passing through Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden stating that they might be struck.”
He also noted that Britain only cares about its own interests, which is why it supports and sells weapons to Saudi Arabia, however, it is being involved in war crimes against thousands of Yemeni civilians perpetrated by the Saudi-led coalition.
