95,000 Patients in Danger of Dying due to Saudi-Led Coalition’s Practices

The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology called on the United Nations, international ,humanitarian human rights organizations and the Human Rights Council to lift fast to the blockade imposed on Sana’a International Airport to save the lives of thousands of sick and disabled people.
The Spokesman ofthe General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Dr. Mazen Ahmed Ghanem, reiterated the call by the United Nations and human rights organizations to respond quickly to stop illegal and inhumane acts by closing Sana’a airport in front of civilian flights, which led to a humanitarian disaster.
Dr. Mazen said in a statement to YemenExtra that the statistics of the Ministry of Health show the death of almost 13,395 patients since the beginning of the closure of Sana’a International Airport with an average of 37 deaths per day due to inability to travel or to obtain medicines and medical solutions transported by air.
He added that 95 thousand patients are in danger of dying because of the constant closure of the airport in Sana’a, in addition to students studying abroad or wishing to return home, especially the new academic year at the door.
He stated that about 50 thousand citizens have become unable to afford the cost of living abroad pointing to what the countries of the Saudi-led coalition to restrict and cancel many flights to and from airports, Aden and Saiyun, which make the humanitarian situation worse.
The official spokesman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation launched a call on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to bear their responsibilities and to reopen the Sana’a International Airport for humanitarian reasons.
