In an unprecedented interaction from Civil Society Organizations, in the way to achieve international criminal justice & halves the victims of the Saudi-led coalition bombing in Yemen, a large number of unions & civil society organizations presidents gathered on Monday, 18 September 2017, conjunction with the 36th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, in a protest in front of the United Nations headquarters in Sanaa.
Where they signed a joint & unanimous letter calling on the UN & the Human Rights Council to establish an international commission of inquiry into the war crimes in Yemen which were & still being perpetrated against the innocent civilians by the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia & UAE in their war against Yemen.
The letter also called on the Human Rights Council, United Nations, international organizations, & governments of the world to stop what the High Commissioner called “massacre” against 26 million Yemenis, 60% of them are under 14 years, & 51% are women.
The letter reviewed the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the continuous bombardment of cities, residential neighborhoods & infrastructure by Saudi-Led coalition fighter jets, in addition to the suffocating siege that has caused suffering to the Yemeni people.
The number of organizations, federations & unions which signed the letter delivered to the headquarters of the High Commission in Sana’a reached up to 108 signatures, and the campaign of signatures is to be continued.
According to statements by some heads of federations, unions and organizations, they confirmed that their interaction & messages will continue on and on until an Independent International Commission Of Inquiry is established to bring justice to innocent victims.
