At least 2 dead, 24 injured in Las Vegas concert shooting

US police say they are investigating reports of an active shooting in a music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, which left at least two people dead and 24 others injured.

Las Vegas Police Department advised people in a statement on Sunday night to stay away from Mandalay Bay Casino on the south end of the Vegas strip on Las Vegas Boulevard and across from McCarran International Airport.

“We’re investigating reports of an active shooter near/around Mandalay Bay Casino,” police said on Twitter. Several people including a police officer had been shot at a nearby outdoor concert, according to the Las Vegas Sun newspaper.

Eyewitnesses reported multiple casualties on their social media pages but there were no official reports.

Several people were reportedly taken to nearby hospitals after sustaining gunshots.

Special SWAT units were deployed to the scene of the shooting. Police had shut down the strip.
