Syrian Army strikes back near Sukhnah, frees strategic gas field

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) struck back against Daesh in the Sukhnah countryside, Thursday, liberating an important area close to this imperative desert city.

Backed by heavy airstrikes from the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian Arab Army managed to regain the initiative south of Sukhnah, ending Daesh’s advance towards the city’s southern gate.

According to a military report, the Syrian Arab Army was capable of liberating the Al-Hayl Gas Field on Thursday, resulting in the death of several Daesh terrorists and the reopening of the Palmyra-Sukhnah Road.

Despite the liberation of the Al-Hayl Gas Field, the Syrian Arab Army still needs to clear the remaining regions occupied by the terrorists east of the city.
