The Iraqi Armed Forces have captured the Rabi’a border-crossing this afternoon after a short operation in this formerly Kurdish-held part of the Nineveh Governorate.
The Iraqi Armed Forces, led by the Federal Police, carried out a new operation this morning that aimed at two important border-towns located northwest of recently liberated Tal ‘Afar.
When the operation started , the Kurdish Peshmerga forces that were in control of Rabi’a had abandoned their posts along the border and conceded this area to the Federal Police without a fight.
The Federal Police are now trying to secure the nearby town of Zumar, which is still under the Peshmerga’ control .
