The Iraqi Armed Forces have freed the whole border with Syria, today, after carrying out a swift operation between the Al-Anbar and Nineveh governorates.
Led by the army and Hashd Al-Sha’abi, the Iraqi Armed Forces pushed their way north from the border-city of Al-Qa’im towards the Nineveh Governorate town of Tal Safuk, securing a large portion of territory close to the Syrian provinces of Al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor.
Due to this advancement, the Iraqi Armed Forces sealed the entire Syrian border for the first time since Daesh waged their massive offensive in the Summer of 2014.
The Iraqi Armed Forces will now work to cleanse Daesh’s last pocket that is based between the Al-Anbar and Salaheddine governorates.
