Germany harms Saudi-led coalition over its war on Yemen

Germany has decided that it will halt exporting arms to the Saudi-led coalition that are waging war on Yemen.

A spokesman for the German government said on Friday that it had decided to stop exporting arms to countries participating in the war on Yemen.

Steinh Zeibert said the Federal Security Council does not currently grant licenses to export weapons “incompatible with the results of exploratory talks” on the formation of a coalition government between the Christian Alliance – which Chancellor Angela Merkel belongs to – and the Social Democratic Party.

“The German government will no longer allow permits to export arms to these countries as long as they participate in the war on Yemen,” he added.
