[Graphic 18+] Kurdish forces suffer heavy casualties as Turkish-backed rebels advance in Afrin

The Turkish-backed rebels continued their advance inside the strategic Afrin region of Aleppo, today capturing several areas from the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Led by the Free Syrian Army’s Assoud Al-Sharqiyah and Faylaq Al-Sham factions, the Turkish-backed rebels captured the town of Omer Semo near the Khorouz Mountain of northeastern Afrin.

 The Free Syrian Army would then capture several other areas near Omer Semo, including a number of hilltops.

Meanwhile, at the southwestern front of Afrin, the Turkish-backed rebels managed to repel the counter-offensive that was launched by the Kurdish forces at Jandaris city.

Following the YPG’s failed assault, the Turkish-backed rebels took control of Arshli and and its corresponding hilltop after advancing from Jandaris this afternoon.

As a result of today’s advance, the Turkish-backed rebels now control eight percent of the Afrin region, which is double what they controlled last week.
