According to the Economist magazine, many Yemenis fear what they see as a Saudi-Emirati occupation of their country, noting that the forces deployed by the Gulf countries contribute to the fragmentation of Yemen and the complexity of citizens’ lives.

Saudi and Emirati officials claim that the deployment of troops across the country is part of their war effort, but the kingdom seems to be building a new route to the coast. At the same time, Abu Dhabi’s actions in Yemen appear to be part of a bigger strategy To control the ports along some of the busiest shipping routes in the world.

The Saudis, who worked at the airport in November, bought the allegiance of tribal elders in the east and south through the distribution of Saudi arms, cars and passports. The UAE seized a series of southern ports, such as Mukalla , Aden, and the brain, and controls the only plant to liquefy gas in Yemen.

The magazine went on to say that “Yemenis are afraid of losing their control over their country in the face of the Saudi-UAE incursion, and others in the province of Al-Mahra complain about losing business. At the same time, there is increasing tension between Saudi and UAE agents. North, the UAE is training fighters from the south ».

The new militias – backed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – are contributing to accelerating the fragmentation of Yemen, the magazine said, noting tribal leaders are exploiting the chaos.

The magazine, led by Abdullah bin Afar, who calls himself the Sultan of Al-Mahra and Socotra, pledged to resist the “occupation” led by Saudi Arabia.
