The emergence and spread of measles disease in most districts of Abyan governorate has raised concern among the population, and the death of a number of children infected with the disease has increased the fears and concerns of the population.

In the district of Lauder in Abyan governorate, measles has spread frighteningly, leading to the death of a number of children under the age of nine.

Director of health at the Directorate of Lauder Mohammed Mzahm, explained that “measles” appeared in the Directorate of Lauder, there are more than seventy cases of the disease, while six deaths were recorded among children, pointing out that there is a follow-up to places of spread of the disease,where vaccination is in the areas and villages where the spread of «measles».

In a statement to the head of epidemiological surveillance in Abyan, Shawqi Abdul-Jabbar, he explained that the number of cases of “measles” in Abyan has reached today 234 cases, pointing out that the number is increasing and frightening.

The problem of the refusal of a number of parents to vaccinate their children remains one of the biggest challenges facing the Office of Health and Population in Abyan, which is one of the most important reasons for the spread of measles,as well as the main reason which is the US-Saudi coalition and the siege which killing Yemenis everyday in the districts, villages and governorate of Yemen.
