The leader of the Supreme Political Council, Saleh al-Samad, said in a statement regarding the martyrdom of the scholar Idroos bin Mushayt on Friday that “everyone in Yemen is targeted now and must stand together in the fight against the Takfiri groups and those behind them.”

“As challenges face the Yemeni people today as a result of the continued aggression, it is imperative for all to stand united in strengthening national cohesion to fight criminal groups and those who stand behind them, supporters and financiers and to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice to receive their deterrent punishment,” he said in a statement condemning the assassination of Mushayt.

The president sent a cable of condolences and sympathy following the martyrdom of one of the most prominent figures of Yemen, the scholar Idroos bin Abdullah bin Sumait, the imam of al-Muhaddar mosque in the city of Tarim, Hadramout province, who was assaulted on Friday morning.

He affirmed that Yemen has lost to Ben Samait a scientific and religious stature and an authentic symbol known as diligence, broad knowledge, asceticism and the relentless pursuit of the values of moderation to serve Islam, its lofty and ideal goals for the welfare of humanity.
