British historian and policy analyst Mark Curtis called for his country to stop supporting Saudi Arabia. Since 1970, the British economy has relied on Saudi Arabia to turn Britain into a dependent country.

In his article published on the Middle East Eye site, Curtis said that government policies should be aimed at strengthening the national interest, but that the upcoming visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Britain will focus on strengthening private relations, putting the British people at risk.

“British Prime Minister Theresa Mae says, the visit will lead to a new era of bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia, but at the same time this visit will exacerbate four British policy problems,” Curtis said.

The first of these problems, says Curtis: “The British cooperation with Saudi Arabia against Yemen, this in itself a humanitarian disaster in which tens of thousands of people died of starvation.”
