UAE-backed militias drive Aden in southern Yemen into total chaos

Eyewitnesses in the southern Yemeni governorate, Aden, said that armed groups supported by the UAE forces carried out on Tuesday morning, a large-scale raids on the homes of dozens of citizens randomly in the areas of “Mansoura and Almadarah, Dar Saad and Almsabin and al-teqania.”

The witnesses confirmed that during the shelling, several citizens were arrested and taken to secret places and prisons supervised by the UAE forces in Aden governorate.

The witnesses did not mention the reasons behind the raids and the large arrests of citizens.

It should be noted that the UAE forces have opened secret detention centers and prisons to which Yemenis are arbitrarily taken by members of the security belt forces, elite of Hadramiya and other armed militias deployed in the governorate of Aden and various southern governorates.

Earlier, Human Rights Watch criticized the torture of Yemeni nationals by UAE forces in secret prisons in Aden.

“Detainees in UAE military prisons have been beaten, threatened with death and sexual assault, including forced nudity and other psychological torture,” it said in a report.
