Al-Qaeda elements failed to carry out a suicide car bomb attack on Friday in the district of Al-Sawma’a in the governorate of Al-Bayda, a local security source said.
This took place just a day after the warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition reportedly targeted a Yemeni prison in the governorate of Al-Bayda, freeing nearly 70 Al-Qaeda prisoners, source confirmed to YemenExtra.
The source said in a statement to the Yemeni news agency (Saba) that the suicide car bomb detonated today afternoon before its arrival to Aween checkpoint in Samra’a region based in Sawma’a district.
The Saudi-led coalition and its paid-militias in Yemen have been fighting side by side in war-torn Yemen against the Yemeni Army and Ansarullah since the beginning of the war on March 26 of 2015.
