The oil pumping operation in Shabwa province, southeast of Yemen, halted on Saturday.
The oil pipeline passing from al-Bayad area, which transfers the oil from Uqla field to Ayath area of Jardan district and then heads to Noshayma oil port of Radhom district, northeast of Ataq city, was attacked by unknown gunmen ,according to local official.
They said that the rising smoke ,east of Ataq district, caused by an oil leakage in the pipeline.
Elements of Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) and al-Qaeda have become active in Shabwa province, after it was controlled by the United Arab Emirates-funded security belt forces.
Notably, the oil pipeline has been exposed to repeated attacks, in addition to aiming at a number of trucks’ loaded with oil in the province over the past days.
