A report issued by the Committee on Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries of the House of Representatives confirmed that the number of deaths in the ranks of traditional fishermen in the West Coast, which includes the governorates of Hodeidah, Taiz and Hajjah, has amounted to (146) deaths and (57) injuries.
The report pointed out that the direct targeting of villages and communities of fishermen by the warplanes and warships of the Saudi-led coalition resulted in a wave of displacement, which had a disastrous impact on refugees and their families, especially as fishermen are among the poorest segments of society.
According to the report, the US-backed coalition has directly damaged their living standards amounting to more than 2 and a half million of residents of cities and coastal villages along the coastline of the Red Sea.
The number of completely destroyed boats was limited to the coasts of Hodeidah and Hajjah, reaching (204) boats.
