The Yemeni air defenses ,Monday, declared shooting down a reconnaissance aircraft belonging to the Saudi-led coalition in the northern province of Saada, a military official told YemenExtra.

The incident took place over Al-Qurad area in Saada, the official added.

In mid- April, The air defenses were able to shoot down a US-made unmanned reconnaissance aircraft -MQ-9 -belonging to the coalition forces in Hodaida province, western Yemen.

The capital Sanaa , October 1, 2017, was the scene of shooting down the first plane of the same type at the hands of the Yemeni joint forces’ air defenses.

The coalition jets , for their part, carried out 18 raids on different areas in the Directorate of Baqem border, after the downing of the plane, leaving casualties and severe material damage amid the homes and farms of citizens.

Saudi Arabia has been incessantly pounding Yemen since March 2015 in an attempt to crush the popular Houthi Ansarullah movement and reinstate former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of the Riyadh regime. The Arab kingdom has also imposed a blockade on its impoverished neighbor, causing a dire humanitarian situation.
