First Initiative for Saving Children launches in Sana’a’s Streets

Human rights and media activists launched the first humanitarian initiative, “Children Support” which focuses on disadvantaged children on the streets of Sana’a. The head of the initiative, Dr. Noura Rassam, explained that this initiative is the first specialized program to target children on the street.
It is aiming to improve their living conditions and encourage them to continue their education and to provide them with psychological and physical protection in proportion to their age groups.
She pointed out that the initiative aims to protect the target group from deviation, and from the various forms of violence and exploitation that may be exposed to it. In addition to building relationships and partnership with various official and civil authorities, to shelter the displaced and rehabilitate them. Their legitimate and guaranteed rights in accordance with domestic and international laws.
The Executive Director of the Initiative, Maher Al-Shamiri, pointed to the importance of the children support initiative in the exceptional circumstances of the country, as a result of the war being waged by the US-Saudi Aggression forces. The international community continues its silence ignoring the suffering of Yemen’s children in general and the reality of childhood in particular.
Indicating that the initiative will raise awareness, rehabilitation programs and activities. Also, the initiative can develop their practical abilities and education. The program is working to provide various basic needs, including health care and treatment for children.
He called on businessmen and international organizations concerned with childhood to give priority to this program “street children” and to protect the children.
