The United Nations Secretary-General’s envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith, arrived at Sana’a International Airport on Saturday morning in a second official trip to Yemen.
The UN envoy was received by the Head of the Decrees Department at Foreign Ministry, Abdul Ghani Al-Saidi and the Director General of Sana’a International Airport Khalid Al-Shayef.
The visit is expected in light of the efforts of the Saudi-led coalition to escalate, especially in the west coast of Yemen.
The United Nations expressed its deep concern over the operation launched by the Saudi-led coalition on Yemen towards the city of Hodeida.
UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said in a statement on Wednesday that, “we are very concerned about the situation in the vicinity of Hodeida,” adding that UN staff has been drawing up contingency plans and intensifying deliveries of relief items.
