Yemen Welcomes Final Communique Issued by European Union

A source in the Foreign Ministry welcomed the final communique issued by the European Union foreign ministers. In a meeting they stressed that there is no military solution to the war in Yemen.

The source confirmed in a statement to the Yemeni news agency (Saba) the Ministry’s support of the efforts of the Special Envoy, the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, Martin Griffith. It is the goal to reach a comprehensive and just political solution in the framework of respect for the unity and sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen.

The source pointed out that Yemeni Army firing missiles at the countries of coalition comes within the framework of self-defense, a right guaranteed in all divine and international laws and conventions, stressing the importance of condemning to stop of targeting civilians by the US-Saudi coalition.

The source pointed out that the Supreme Political Council and the Government of National Salvation stressed on more than one occasion the international community and the UN envoy to prepare for the political settlement process as long as it will end the war, lift the comprehensive siege and positively affect international peace and security.
