The deaths of the cholera epidemic in Yemen have exceeded 2,300 cases in more than a year, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported last week.

“In the past 13 months, there have been 2311 cholera deaths in Yemen,” the organization said in the official account of its Yemen office on Twitter.

It stated that the total number of cases suspected of being infected with the epidemic has reached more than 1,118,000 cases during the same period.

“Health authorities and aid organizations are working around the clock to prevent the outbreak of cholera outbreaks,” the organization added. “However, the deteriorating health system and the challenges of continuing war undermine these efforts.”

For over three years, Yemen has been witnessing a war that has left difficult humanitarian and health conditions, leading to outbreaks of epidemics and the closure of a large number of health facilities in the country, which is one of the poorest countries in the world.
