Yemen Media Union Sends Message to Mr. Anthony Bellanger, Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists About Anwar Al-Rukn

In responding to your statement issued on June 11, 2018, concerning the death of Yemeni citizen Anwar Al-Rukn, We deeply regret when you dragged to repeat and adopt a false account based on the personal judgment of some members of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate and the media of the war coalition against Yemen, who falsify and fabricate facts in the context of media misinformation of the fallacy of international public opinion and the blurring of the truth

We would like to inform you that, according to the detailed documents attached, Anwar was not a journalist, nor was he subjected to torture or cruel treatment in Houthi prison, as you have stated in your statement, relying on false information by parties involved in the war against Yemen write false reports to international human rights organizations within its comprehensive war against the Yemeni people. The image of the corpse, which was published and circulated by the media of the war coalition on Yemen, was said to be Anwar al Rukn and after the investigation it turned out that it was fabricated.

It is noteworthy that Anwar’s case is not the only case and will not be the last case So, the falsification and misrepresentation of what is taking place in the non-occupied areas of Yemen and the main focus on promoting widespread allegations of violations, torture and arrests of journalists and media professionals, with the aim of arousing international public opinion, paste the journalism character to fighters in battlefield and others who have nothing to do with the press to exploit any issues related to them to practice the distortion and systematic attack programmed in their war against Yemen and its people

Therefore, we look forward to your association to verify the false information and misleading reports received from members of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, acting personally in issuing illegal statements on behalf of the union. We are committed despite the exceptional circumstances imposed by the war Injustice and unjust blockade on our country for more than three years, to respect freedom of opinion and expression and to protect journalists
