The city of Hodeidah, West coast of Yemen, witnessed a massive demonstration on Friday afternoon that demanded the implementation of Sweden’s agreement.
The participants chanted slogans condemning the daily violations committed by the Saudi-led coalition along with its militias on the ground for breaching the agreement though targeting residential neighborhoods with artillery shelling and machine guns.
The governor of the province of Hodeidah Mohammed Ayyash Qahim asked during his speech in today’s event for the implementation of Sweden’s agreement and the redeployment of the forces, in addition to the withdrawing from the city’s skirts.
He explained that the people of the province of Hodeidah do not want any presence of occupying forces who have imposed a siege around the province, stating that what the coalition couldn’t achieve by power, will not do through politics.
Qahim emphasized that he supports peace but with dignity and that today’s peace is peace of love. He then warned for being ready for all choices.
He pointed out that the Coordination Committee is not a consultations committee, but its job is to implement the agreement of Sweden and according to its terms.
The statement called on the United Nations and the Security Council to put pressure on the Saudi-led coalition to implement the agreement of Sweden and the redeployment of their forces outside the city and the opening of roads for all transportations driving through.
Moreover, he praised the national delegation efforts achieved in the consultations of Sweden and their efforts to spare the city and the port of Hodeidah from any hostilities.
The statement also praised the step taken by the forces of the Yemeni army with the support of the popular committees for taking the first step of redeployment outside the port of Hodeidah, then swapping them with the Coast Guard forces, which follows the terms of the agreement.
