The UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths arrived to Sanaa International Airport on Monday morning.
Griffiths is expected to meet top-ranking officials of Sanaa National Salvation Government and Ansarullah leaders in a bid to shore up the truce accord reached in Sweden between Yemen’s warring sides last December.
Griffiths is expected to meet the head of UN redeployment coordination committee retired Dutch general Patrick Cammaert in Sanaa amid traded accusations between warring sides of not abiding by redeployment mechanisms.
Ansarullah has begun their redeployment in the port of Hodeidah, but Saudi backed militias are not satisfied with this step refusing to take a similar step in Kilo 16 road that connects Sanaa with Hodeida which is a line for food and aid supplies to 80% of Yemenis.
On Friday, Hodeidah’s civilians took to the streets demanding UN to implement UN-sponsored agreement reached in Stockholm. Yemen’s state-run news agency ” Saba” reported the protesters demanded the immediate withdrawal of Saudi and UAE occupation forces from the outskirts of the city.
